My Little Keiki

I just had to post some pictures of my little keiki ("baby" in Hawaiian). He looks so handsome in his Hawaiian outfit.

Here is my little keiki, and his makua ("father" in Hawaiian). A quick sidenote; Chris doesn't usually lounge around the house without a shirt on. He had just gotten back from a service project doing yardwork, and after his shower, he was still too hot to put on a shirt.

Masen Turns 2 Months Old

Today Masen turned 2 months old. He is such a good baby, and we absolutely adore him! Here are a few things I love about Masen.
  • He is such a good nurser. This is something I was really worried about. It was rough in the beginning, and there were many times I nearly gave up. I'm glad I stuck with it though, and now we make a great team.
  • I love the happy noises he makes when he is nursing. It reminds me of that movie What About Bob. There is a part in the movie when Bob is making such a big deal out of a homemade meal with corn on the cob and asks, "Is this corn hand shucked?" I sometimes call Masen, Bob because he makes the same happy noises.
  • He is so cute when he rolls his eyes when he is tired. It's like he's trying to stay awake, but is asleep with his eyes open.
  • He is not a big cryer. He does cry every now and then, but is more of a squaker and squeeker. It's like he already has his own language.
  • He is a thumb sucker. Heaven knows I tried to force the binky on him, but he always gags and looks at me like I'm trying to choke him. I finally gave up and let him suck his thumb. I may not think it's so cute in a few years, but for now it's adorable.
  • He is such a good sleeper. He never really had his days and nights mixed up. Last night he slept for 7 hours straight, and probably would have slept for longer, but I had to wake him up before I exploded.
  • He LOVES his baths. He gets such a serious look on his face when he is splashing, like he is concentrating really hard. When he gives a big splash he smiles. I haven't figured out if he smiles because he likes the splash, or if he is smiling at my reaction.
  • He is my little smiley guy. If you can get him to look you in the eye he will reward you with a big grin. He is on the verge of laughing, but isn't quite there yet. It's OK though. His smiles are all I need for now.
  • He makes such funny faces. I would love to know what he is thinking sometimes.

We are so glad God sent this special little guy to our family.

Masen is 1 Month Old!

Wow. Masen is already 1 month old. Crazy how time flies when you are sleep deprived :) Here is a month review in photos. Our crew at the Sea Life Park while waiting for Chris and Corynn to take a swim with dolphins. Masen LOVES Corynn. She is always able to calm him down when he is crying, and she can usually make him smile. My handsome boyMasen doesn't always like it when Dallin holds him. Dallin loves his little brother though, and is always kissing him. Cute nakie boy after his bath!
Up close and personal.

Masen's Nursery

I love how Masen's little nursery turned out. I ordered the letters online, not knowing how big they were. I guess it's better to have too big than too small. The only thing I would do different is paint the walls, but since we are renting, I'll have to live without. The only thing we need now is the baby.

Getting Ready

We have been getting everything ready for baby Masen to arrive. I have had a lot of fun shopping and getting the nursery ready. This time around has been a totally different experience that with my first two babies.
Here are my little helper bees helping me paint the letters that will hang in Masen's room. They are so excited to do anything to help prepare for their little brother.

A Sneak Preview

Here are some ultra-sound images taken at 20 weeks. Usually I have a hard time making out the ultra-sound pictures, and have to have them explained to me. This first one is pretty obvious that is it a BOY! In this one you can see his head and body, and it looks like he is sucking his thumb. That will be a habit we break when he is first born. After having Corynn suck her thumb until she was 5, we know how hard it can be to break that habit later in life.

We can't wait to meet our little man!
